What is House of Bread?

Skills for work.
Support for life.

House of Bread is a unique program helping under-resourced women make a fresh start.

In an atmosphere of friendship, participants and mentors build relationships while sharing tools for restoring confidence, dignity, and hope through a six-week session.

Participants learn job and personal skills through hands-on training, coupled with emotional and spiritual support, while baking and selling bread alongside volunteer mentors from the Roanoke community.

What is this Bake-Off?

Roanoke shows up.

The Bake-Off is our signature fundraising event: high-energy, joyful, and rooted in community.

Community bakers, civic leaders, local celebrities, and Roanoke neighbors come together for an evening of tasting delicious baked goods, friendly competition, and celebrating our community’s capacity.

All proceeds directly support our programs and demonstrate our sponsors’ commitment to supporting our most vulnerable residents.
